Mainoaks holiday cottages are situated on one of the most picturesque stretches of the River Wye and as part of your stay, there are complimentary passes to fish along this beautiful stretch of the river. Initially famous for its Salmon, the river Wye has, more recently, it has become popular for coarse fishing.
Our beat starts about 1 mile up-stream of Mainoaks on the opposite bank of the river and can be reached via a walk over Huntsham bridge and along the riverside footpath, or a 5 minute drive, with private parking adjacent to the river bank.
Fish including Salmon, Trout and Pike – of over 30lbs- along with Barbell, Dace, Roach, Eels and Perch, all combine to make for excellent sport.
Open season for coarse fishing is between the 16th June and 14th March. Licences can be obtained from local the post office the nearest of which is at Goodrich.
Licences can also be purchased on-line from the Environment Agency website – www.environment-agency.gov.uk
